On the island of S.Miguel, in the Azores, it is commonly known as Pimenta Vermelha, Pimenta da Terra or simply Pimenta. On the mainland it is called Pimenta da Terra to identify this paste from the Azores, so characteristic and wisely produced.
\nRed Pimenta or Malagueta is used in the most varied Azorean dishes, it is part of the Azorean culture and is present in every house. It is a most typical spice of the Azores. Its flavor marked slightly sweet. Dona Pimentinha’s Ground Pepper is produced in Candel\u00e1ria, S\u00e3o Miguel Island, Azores, and prepared in an artisanal way.
\nThe pepper paste is obtained according to an artisanal method, where after cutting and removing the seeds, the chilli peppers are ground in a mill specifically for this purpose. Among other cooking secrets, this dough is then placed in clay salt pans for some time.<\/p>\n

Red Pimenta is one of the must-try Azorean spices when visiting any of the islands of the Azores archipelago.<\/p>\n
