Dona Pimentinha’s Spicy Pepper is produced in Candelária, São Miguel Island, Azores, and prepared in an artisanal way.
There are several varieties of pepper or chilli grown in the Azores, some spicier than others.
The consumption of all types of chilli peppers has grown worldwide in recent years. Chili peppers contain vitamin C and A and are a good source of fiber.
Pimenta Picante is one of the must-try Azorean spices to taste when visiting any of the islands of the Azores archipelago. In restaurants it is served with white cheese, creating a very pleasant contrast of flavors. It is also used to prepare gastronomic dishes in general, serving as a seasoning.
