Apple croustade, maple syrup and almond

Croustade is a French culinary term meaning a crust or pie crust of any kind. They are usually made of puff pastry or puff pastry, but there are also bread croustades, potato croustades, rice croustades, and semolina, among others.

Preparation Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F). In a bowl, mix the apples with the brown sugar, maple syrup, lemon juice, and cinnamon.
  2. Grease a 25 cm x 20 cm baking dish with butter and pour in the mixture. Place the almond thins in a sealed plastic bag and crush them into coarse crumbs using a rolling pin.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the almond thins crumbs with the oats, butter, flour, and brown sugar until a crumbly texture forms. Spoon the crumble over the apple mixture, before pressing lightly. Bake in the oven for 50 minutes to 1 hour, until golden on top.
